Walter Lee Sanchez, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest High Point Medical Center. Born on April 30, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his passions. He was 82 years old.

Walter was the beloved son of the late Esmel Sanchez and Flaminia Jeannie Aragon. He spent his formative years in Hoehne, Colorado, where he received his education at Hoehne High School. Following his schooling, Walter embarked on a distinguished career serving his country in the United States Navy. From 1961 to 1985, he proudly wore the uniform, demonstrating unwavering commitment and patriotism.

After retiring from the Navy, Walter dedicated many years of service to Lockheed Martin, where he eventually retired. His work ethic and dedication were evident in all his endeavors.

In his personal life, Walter was blessed with a loving marriage to Sylvia M. Lucero, with whom he shared 25 wonderful years. Together, they built a family filled with love and joy. Walter cherished spending time with his family above all else, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Walter had a passion for reading, camping, and fishing, finding peace and joy in nature's embrace. He also enjoyed the excitement of visiting the casino, where he spent many enjoyable moments.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Ruth Duran and Pricilla Hernandez. Walter leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving family: his devoted wife, Sylvia Sanchez; his children, Debra Young (Rob) and their daughters Elizabeth and Sylvia, Anita Gilbert (Scott) and their children Christopher, Brian, Alex, and Allison, Earline Atkinson (Doug) and their children Stephanie and Jeffrey, and Walter E. "Moe" Sanchez and his sons Walter A. and Jacob; and twenty cherished great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Jimmy Sanchez of Texas and Kenny Jackman of Colorado.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Walter's memory and the profound impact he had on those who knew him.

Walter Lee Sanchez will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his zest for life. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
