Tony Sherwood Hayes, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at the age of 70, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. Born on April 24, 1956, in Forsyth County, NC, Tony was the cherished son of the late Jimmie Devon Hayes and Patricia Sarah (Hill) Hayes.

Tony received his formal education at Parkland High School in Winston-Salem, NC, and went on to earn an Associate degree from Davidson Community College. A man of faith, he accepted Christ as his Savior and was a devoted member of Pine Chapel Moravian Church.

On April 14, 1991, Tony married the love of his life, Sheila Wright Hayes, in Winston-Salem, NC. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Tony’s professional life was dedicated to his work as a Real Estate Broker and Broker-in-Charge for Chrysson Brothers, where he served with dedication and integrity for 49 years.

Tony had a passion for music and was a talented guitarist, able to play both acoustic and electric guitar across genres including gospel, rock, and country. An avid runner, he completed five marathons, with courses ranging from the scenic landscapes of Hawaii to the picturesque Kiawah Island. Above all, Tony loved his family and his work family dearly.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sheila Hayes; his daughters, Amanda Hayes (Henry Hacker) and Courtney Theile (Zachary); and his cherished grandchildren, Emma Grace Hayes, Adalyn Marie Hacker, and one soon-to-arrive, Lenora Theile.
