Mike faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War as a Radio/Telephone Operator Supervisor. He was honorably discharged as the rank of Sergeant after almost 2 years of service. Mike’s professional career was mostly spent as a heavy-duty mechanic. Mike always demonstrated a tremendous work ethic and desire to provide the best life he could for his family by working two jobs for much of his life.
Beyond his professional life, Mike enjoyed sitting and chatting with friends from the American Legion. He once had a puppy of his own but he enjoyed keeping other family’s dogs much more. He particularly loved keeping Sugar, Doug’s little white fur ball. As he got older, he enjoyed watching baseball and golf, often sharing his passion and knowledge with family and friends. Of course his daily routine was never complete without watching the Price is Right and the power hour of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. He was an avid reader. He loved many types of novels including crime, mystery, and action. He often read two or three books at a time. He loved word find puzzles, playing card games with family and playing bingo with friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Irene Duggins, and his brother, Ted Duggins. He leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by his children: daughter Michelle DeLario and her husband Jeff; sons Doug Duggins and his wife Dana, and Matthew Duggins. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His brother, Roger Duggins, and numerous relatives and friends remember him fondly.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held on March 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Jamestown Presbyterian Church, located at 1804 Guilford College Rd., Jamestown, NC 27282, where family and friends will celebrate Michael's life, cherishing the memories he created and the impact he made on everyone he met.
