Marie Isabell Goings, 78, formerly of Auburn, NE, passed away on August 14, 2025, in Lexington, North Carolina. She was born on December 13, 1946, in Hastings, Nebraska.
Marie was blessed with three children and devoted much of her life to her family. Her early years took her across the country and beyond, with childhood homes in California, Alaska, Oklahoma, and Japan. In time, she settled into the places that would shape much of her adult life — Auburn, Nebraska, and Conway, South Carolina She taught Bible classes for many years and enjoyed sharing her faith with others. Her creative spirit showed through her love of scrapbooking, making greeting cards, and creating beautiful counted cross-stitch pieces.
Her family will always remember her love of a Cherry Pepsi with a plate of fresh seafood, her knowledge of all things etiquette, and her incredible—sometimes ruthless—Monopoly abilities. Marie’s quiet strength and unwavering faith were evident in the way she faced life’s trials, and she had a gentle way of making those around her feel seen and loved. Despite all she endured, she remained a source of comfort, grace, and resilience to everyone around her.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Tom Cook.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Cook of Lexington, NC; Paul Partin (Sherrie) of Conway, SC; and Mark Partin (Gayla) of Sumter, SC. She was a proud grandmother to Summer (Sara-Beth), Peyton (Patricia), and Savannah Cook; Jessica (Courtney), Lucas (Kristin), Gracie, and Izabella Partin; and Jenna Binion (Virgil). She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Addie Morse and Miles Binion, and Campbell Testerman-Cook. Marie is further survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Buckner (Herbert) and Susan Young, as well as one brother, David Allgood (Susan).
In keeping with Marie’s wishes, there will be no services.
