Joe Don Leonard, born on March 8, 1947, in Thomasville, North Carolina, peacefully passed away at the age of 78 on August 14, 2025, at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center. He was the beloved son of the late Oscar Hollis Leonard and Virginia Della Fowler.
Joe spent his career in the furniture industry, where he was employed by multiple companies as an upholsterer, fabric cutter, and pattern designer. His skill and dedication were evident in every piece he crafted throughout his years of service.
At the age of 13, Joe accepted Christ as his Savior at Southside Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC, a faith that guided him throughout his life. He received his formal education from Thomasville High School, where he developed a love for music and enjoyed watching television.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his devoted sons, Steve Leonard (Laura) and Mark Leonard (Tracy). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Drake Leonard (Aaron), Dylan Leonard (Savannah), Macy Leonard Hill (Dane), Levi Leonard, and Endie Leonard, as well as his great-grandchildren, Sophia Leonard and Baby Girl Leonard, who is expected to arrive in December. Joe is also survived by his sister, Connie Leonard Key (Ken), and niece, Joni Fields Bryant.
The family will hold a graveside service to honor Joe's memory at 1:00 p.m. on September 2, 2025, at Holly Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Joe's kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
